But updates are sparse, modding is pretty non-existent (Seriously, if you don't have the manpower to add much needed content to the game during development, you really should open this game up for modding asap, I don't understand the delay. After you’ve preordered and received your activation code, download Starsector for your OS of choice using one of the links below. Early access to the game, starting with alpha builds available now Graphics: Minimum 1280×768 resolution, 512 MB video memory. The game is currently under heavy development, and many planned features are not yet implemented - however, the planned gameplay for starsector goes above and beyond a basic action tactical shooter. Personally, I really like the idea of WTF, again the ship customization is pretty much the only reason I would play this over any other 2D space game. If you preorder now, you pay 15 25 off the final price. As the player, you directly control your own ship, while issuing orders to other ships in your fleet. In all variants the Buffalo is slow and fragile and will probably not make it. The Pirate variant comes with built-in Shielded Cargo Holds while the Hegemony auxiliary variant comes with built-in Militarized Subsystems. As soon as your fighters have bombed the enemy, recall and do it all over again. The Buffalo is a ubiquitous logistics feature of many fleets wanting destroyer sized hauling capacity, with its ample cargo hold for its maintenance cost and decent burn speed. This is an extremely powerful ability, though it does limit the Astral to bombers. I highly recommend everyone who hasn't play it to go try it. The Astral is a capital ship with 6 decks and the ability to instantly recall all of its fighters. Shades Shades have the EMP Emitter ship system, which means that they don't need to run any form of point-defense or anti-fighter system. This makes them fantastic assassins against larger ships. If this was a competition, it's not at all a fair fight. Recommended Phase Ships: Afflictors Afflictors can increase the damage they do for a short period of time. Starsector is the better game right now, it has been actively updated for years, and for a alpha game it has relatively large modding scene. Forget potential, you never know how games will turn out in X years. However, Starsector is definitely better at everything else. WTF's ship customization is absolutely peerless. This game is pretty much fun shooting in space with very little in terms of consequences right now. I pretty much skip the 2nd tier of ships. I upgrade my silent running with my first skill and then it's easy street. They have good cargo space, tiny sensor profiles and cargo holds that are harder for patrols to scan. I just like starting with smuggling and trading so these ships are perfect. With regards to simulation of galaxy and factions it is extremely barebones at the moment nothing to compare with Starsector. My favorite starter ship is the pirate cerberus and hounds. That being said there are premade default designs that you can use instantly and eventually modify slightly to suit your needs better. You can put smaller reactors close to every system you need and thus have multiple redundancies however risk major explosions whenever one of those gets destroyed or you can make a giant well protected reactor and put powerlines along safer routes which takes that valuable space from other components. This can be prevented as there is power management to take into consideration when designing. Then when enemy shot damages your powerline to your weapons then until yo or your crew/drones repair it you can say goodbye to your weapons. There is the High-Value Bounties system added originally by Vayra's sector that is sorta integrated into MagicLib, and this mod's International Bounty Board, which is used by other mods. You pretty much take a hull shape and then put in all the components and design the ship yourself. Ship/Weapons Pack for more ships, if you want, and its own bounty system (there are 2 bounty systems for this game that different mods use. You can customize your ships to a much greater extent. Although you don't have much in the way of fleet in terms of flying a single ship in combat it feels more in-depth. Other user's assets Some assets in this file belong to other authors.Personally I find combat better here than in Starsector.
